Our Lesson Program
Over the past 25 years, Guitarworks has been “The Place” for developing skilled players. Our program is the most comprehensive in the state of Indiana. Since our inception we have attracted the best instructors from the area to join our team.
Guitarworks sees a huge number of people each week. We offer music lessons seven days a week, open to close, for all ages, all skill levels and from people of all walks of life. Guitarworks currently teaches drums, bass, mandolin, banjo, violin, piano, voice, brass, woodwinds and, of course, guitar.
By teaching one-on-one, we can tailor the curriculum to your personal musical interests and goals. We’ll match you with an instructor you’ll love to work with and you’ll begin learning what you need to know in the style of music that you want to play.

About half of Guitarworks lesson clients are adults, and Denny interviews them directly, so getting the necessary info is pretty easy. With children, we ask the parents about their child or teen’s likes and dislikes, personality traits, musical preferences, school performance, etc. The more parental input we get, the better Denny can do his job. The psychology of matching a teen, for example, with someone they really think is cool, who can show them exactly what they need to progress and package it into the type and style of music they want to play, is essential to getting them hooked on lessons. As we gain their confidence and trust, often we can open the scope of their musical interests, increase their range of listening, and increase their intellectual pursuit of the instrument. We have many ways we can package the lessons and sculpt the curriculum to each individual, to keep their hands on their instrument the most. And THAT is what will teach them the most music. That matchmaking process is what Denny Dixon does, and why our lesson program has grown to such a huge enrollment. People stay with us, and the results are clearly visible. A large part of that credit belongs to Denny, who does his best to ensure a good start in the client teacher relationship.
Band Builders
Guitarworks’ Band Builders program has been recognized in the Indianapolis Star, Daily Journal, Southside Times and the Johnson County Business leader magazine. There I simply no other experience like it!
Musicians are grouped by age, ability and musical interest together into real bands. They then select the songs they want to perform. Bands rehearse each Sunday afternoon with our team of Band Builders coaches.
The program ends with a triumphant performance on the Guitarworks stage in front of a packed house of family and friends. It’s a full tilt rock show using our pro stage gear, lights and LOUD PA system. The concert is filmed and each player receives a DVD of the show.
